so this is me...

why hello there! i'm megs :) i'm a 15 year old girl from my little corner of the internet, and i'm here to introduce myself...

the most important thing about me is that i'm a child of God. i was saved at the age of 3, and i am seeking God and his will for my life each and every day. God is my all, and i don't know where i'd be without him, and his amazing love for this walking mess. and trust me, there are plenty of days i stumble and mess up constantly, but God is so gracious and for that i'm so thankful.

one of my favorite things in the world is music. i listen to music constantly, i play piano and guitar, i write music, i sing music, it's a huge part of who i am.

i also really love writing (you should be able to figure this out by now since... ya know... i have a blog.). i love to write short stories, fanfictions, novels, blog posts, devotionals, journal entries, music, poetry... pretty much any form of writing i can get my hands on.

another important thing to know about me and the bright side, is that i'm always going to be myself. i'm not here to impress people, or get people to like me. i'm here to encourage y'all, and shine for Jesus. so if you have a problem with that sorrynotsorry, have a nice day.

a few things that make me who i am are sarcasm, sass, stubbornness, being super tall, my tomboyishness, writing, music, volleyball, a dash of crazy, and a whole lot of weird. you'll learn very quickly that i love my height, i'm sarcastic about everything, and i'm not afraid to be my(weird)self.

i also love country livin', sayin' y'all, horses, sports, instagramin' (@thebrightsideblog), food, drawing, swimming, sunday night football, and reading. :) (i'm a gryffindor, btw)

so welcome to my blog. i can't wait to get to know you beautiful people better. thank you for joining me on this crazy journey i love to call life, and i hope you're good at handling weird cause i've got a lot of it. :)

xx,
m.

friends, for a season.

Sometimes friends come into your life for a season. Sometimes that season is one of the best times you've ever had, sometimes that season is one of the worst times you've ever had.
In each and every season, God has a plan.
I recently had to say goodbye to a friend I had known since Kindergarten. I thought we were close, but I realized that she had begun to stray from the Lord, so I confronted her about it. She responded quickly with answers like "what I'm doing isn't wrong" or "I'm fine, what I'm doing is ok". Even though I could find bible verses to prove it wasn't. I came to the conclusion after many hours of prayer, wise council, and some tears thrown in here and there - that this friend's season was over. I was very hurt by this but eventually I felt a lot freer.
Months passed, and I thought I was past this friend season thing, so imagine my surprise when God looked down at me from heaven, and decided I wasn't.
In Proverbs it says... “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:24‬ ‭NIV‬
That friend that sticks closer than a brother? That's Jesus. No matter how much pain I go through because some friends are only here for a season, God is my rock, my refuge, my foundation, while my friends should be a support beam.
So I guess what I'm saying is that yes, there's going to be a lot of pain in the process, but God knows what he's doing. I just need to trust, and obey.

Dear God,
I ask that you'll give me grace to handle my friends, whether they're here for a season, or for a lifetime. I pray that I will always be a godly example - not stirring up anything other than a desire for you within them. I pray that you'll help me to always be the best friend I could possibly be.
In Jesus's precious name,
Amen.

||stars|| {a short story}

I glanced through the telescope, and smiled.

The stars had always had always given me a strange sense of euphoria, no matter how bad my day had been. Travis knew this, so maybe that's why he had brought me here tonight.

"C," Trav's voice drew me from my thoughts, and I stepped back from the telescope. "I-I was wondering, well, how you're doing." I looked up, my blue eyes barely meeting his sea-green ones.

"I'll be okay." I felt tears well up in my eyes, as the haunting memories flooded my mind.

"Now Cassandra, we've talked about this before. I don't think Travis is good for y-" My eyes met the headlights approaching us as Mom reprimanded me.

"Mom! Look out!" I shouted as her scream filled my ears. My eyes flung to the back of the SUV, as my eyes met the identical blue ones of my twin, Carson.

He grabbed my hand, as we collided with the reckless Chevy.

I was pulled from my thoughts as Trav kissed my forehead. I was shaking with sobs as I remembered the last day I saw my twin alive.

"I- I can't get his torn up face out of my mind, his cold hand still grasping mine..." I was crying too much to continue, and Travis pulled me close. Rubbing my back, and whispering soothing words into my ear.

"Shhh, C. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." I felt something small, and wet fall into my messy blonde hair. And I looked up into his bloodshot eyes.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be crying, you're the one grieving, not me." He smiled slightly.

"Hey, no don't think that. Carson was your best friend, we both are grieving." He hugged me tighter at those words.

"I love you, Cassandra." He kissed my forehead.

"I love you too, Travis."
